North Carolina woman charged in alleged Houston synagogue attack plot as investigators search for 2 others

An 18-year-old North Carolina woman has been charged in an alleged plot to carry out a mass-casualty attack at Congregation Beth Israel in Houston, Texas. Authorities say Angelina Han Hicks conspired to drive a vehicle into members of the synagogue with the intent to kill as many Jewish worshippers as possible. A tip prompted a multi-state investigation that led to her arrest and the charging of a juvenile in Texas.

Court documents allege Hicks worked with two male suspects identified as Teegan and Angel, who have not been located. Prosecutors said there were concerns the threat could have been imminent. A judge set her bond at 10 million dollars, citing the risk posed by communication among alleged co-conspirators.

The synagogue temporarily closed out of caution, as Jewish community leaders emphasized the importance of safety. Hicks' attorney said the case is in its early stages, while her father denied the allegations and questioned how she could have carried out the plan. The investigation remains ongoing amid heightened concerns about threats targeting Jewish communities nationwide.
