United States President Donald Trump announced that American representatives will not travel to Pakistan for planned talks with Iran. In a post on Truth Social, he said he cancelled the trip, citing wasted time on travel and what he described as internal confusion within Iran’s leadership.

Trump claimed that the United States holds the advantage in any potential negotiations and said there was no need for further long-distance meetings. He stated that if Iran wants to engage in discussions, its leaders can initiate contact.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump reiterated that he stopped his team from making what he described as an 18 hour flight for talks he believed would not be productive. He emphasized that Iran could reach out directly if it wishes to resume discussions.
