India Crude Imports: India's crude imports in April 85% of February level, Russia largest source - The Times of India

Russia remained India’s largest crude oil supplier in April, delivering about 1.6 million barrels per day, even as overall imports declined. India imported roughly 4.4 million barrels per day during the month, lower than March levels and significantly below February, amid continued disruption to shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz. Supplies from Russia fell compared with March, while Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates increased their shipments.

India also resumed crude purchases from Iran and Venezuela to offset reduced flows from other West Asian producers. For the first time in several years, refiners sourced oil from Iran after the United States temporarily eased sanctions, and imports from Venezuela resumed after an extended pause. Notably, no shipments arrived from Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar or the Saudi Kuwait neutral zone in April.

Imports of liquefied petroleum gas dropped sharply to below one million tonnes, down from pre crisis levels, as supply disruptions persisted. The shortfall was partly addressed by higher domestic production. Analysts expect liquefied petroleum gas imports to remain tight in the near term due to ongoing instability in key Middle Eastern supply regions, although increased sourcing from countries such as the United States, Australia, Canada, Norway and Russia helped boost natural gas imports in April.
