President Isaac Herzog began the second leg of his official visit to Central America with a stop in Costa Rica, where he met with leaders of the local Jewish community in San José. Joined by First Lady Michal Herzog, he visited the Centro Israelita Sionista and later met students and staff at the Instituto Dr. Jaim Weizman school.

Addressing community members, Herzog praised the vitality and resilience of the Jewish community in Costa Rica, noting its history that includes generations of members and Holocaust survivors who made the country their home. He highlighted the longstanding ties between Costa Rica and Israel, dating back to the United Nations Resolution in November 1947 and Costa Rica’s recognition of the Jewish state.

Herzog emphasized the importance of unity among Jewish communities, saying that differences in religious practice do not matter in the face of shared challenges. He encouraged continued solidarity, education, and the preservation of Jewish life for future generations.
