The Herzliya Magistrates Court has postponed the planned land distribution lottery in Tel Aviv's Sde Dov district until August, adding another delay to one of Israel's longest running real estate disputes.
The decision follows concerns over soil contamination in the area, including the presence of per and polyfluoroalkyl substances. Representatives of some private landowners petitioned the court, arguing that the lottery should not proceed until there is full clarity regarding the extent of the contamination and the methods required to address it.
The court accepted the request, ruling that the uncertainty surrounding the environmental findings justifies delaying the process for several months.
