UAE among world's fastest-growing billionaire hubs with 17 residents worth $212.6 billion: Forbes

The United Arab Emirates has emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing hubs for billionaires, with 17 residents holding a combined wealth of $212.6 billion in 2026, according to Forbes Middle East. The ranking underscores the country’s transformation into a global magnet for high-net-worth individuals across industries such as cryptocurrency, retail, finance, real estate, healthcare and technology.

Leading the list is Changpeng Zhao, founder of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, whose estimated $110 billion fortune accounts for more than half of the total wealth among the ranked residents. Prominent business figures including M. A. Yusuff Ali of LuLu Group, Sunny Varkey of GEMS Education, Renuka Jagtiani of Landmark Group and construction magnate Ravi Pillai also feature prominently, reflecting the breadth of sectors driving wealth creation in the country.

Separate rankings show continued growth in the broader billionaire landscape, including seven Arab billionaires with combined wealth of $35.4 billion and several Indian-origin business leaders with substantial fortunes. Analysts attribute the rise to the nation’s tax-friendly policies, luxury real estate market, investor-focused residency reforms and strong global connectivity, particularly in Dubai, which is increasingly competing with major international financial centres for capital and wealthy residents.
