Democratic strategist James Carville warned that outspoken anti-Israel activists aligned with Democrats could harm the party politically and morally if it is perceived as tolerating antisemitism. Speaking in a recent interview, he described antisemitism as a serious and growing problem, emphasizing that it is neither exaggerated nor fabricated.
Carville argued that although some anti-Israel protesters are associated with Democrats, many are not party members, even if public perception often links them to the party. He expressed frustration that Democrats have been blamed for campus protests targeting party leaders, saying the loudest voices are overshadowing the broader coalition.
While reaffirming his support for Israel, Carville said criticism of the Israeli government should not be confused with hostility toward the country or Jewish people. He also voiced hope for eventual reconciliation in the Middle East, lamenting the collapse of past peace efforts and urging a renewed focus on diplomacy.
