Israeli basketball player Raz Adam, 26, was pronounced dead on Wednesday following a car crash on Highway 90 in the Hula Valley in the Galilee Panhandle. Adam was driving one of the vehicles involved in the collision. The other driver, a 39-year-old man, sustained light injuries and was evacuated to Ziv Medical Center in Safed.
Born in Netanya in October 1999, Adam most recently played for Hapoel Galil Elyon, joining the club last year. He began his professional career with Elitzur Netanya and later played for Hapoel Tel Aviv from 2020 to 2023.
Adam also represented Israel in the International Basketball Federation Under 20 European Championship tournaments in 2018 and 2019, winning the title both years. During the 2019 tournament, he played alongside Deni Avdija, who was named the competition's Most Valuable Player and has since gone on to compete in the National Basketball Association.
