The personal handgun of Nadia Matar, a leader in the Sovereignty Movement, has been returned to her after a legal battle challenging its confiscation by the Israel Police. The licensed firearm was taken following her participation in protests opposing the entry of humanitarian aid trucks into the Gaza Strip in January 2025.

Two weeks after the demonstration, Matar was summoned for questioning by the national crime investigation unit, where she was informed that her weapon would be confiscated. In response, she sought legal assistance from the organization Honenu, and attorney Adi Keidar initiated proceedings contesting the police decision.

After the legal process concluded, the firearm was returned to Matar. She stated that despite decades of holding a firearms license and previous arrests during protests, her weapon had never before been confiscated, and she expressed gratitude for the legal support she received. Keidar criticized the confiscation as questionable and welcomed the outcome restoring her firearm.
