National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir joined Border Police officers and volunteers from the Mounted Tactical Unit during an operational visit to Tuba-Zangariyye in the upper Galilee, focusing on efforts to combat organized crime and protection rackets. He received briefings from commanders, patrolled the area, and met with residents and business owners who described the ongoing challenges posed by racketeering.
Footage from the visit showed Ben-Gvir confronting residents and declaring, 'We're the bosses here.' During the tour, he was presented with data showing a significant rise in enforcement activity, including a 40 percent increase in protection-related investigations from 2022 to 2025 and a doubling of indictments over the same period.
Ben-Gvir attributed the rise in cases to new legislation and the establishment of dedicated anti-protection units in the north and south. He urged citizens not to fear filing complaints, saying that cooperation with law enforcement is essential to dismantling criminal networks and warning that yielding to racketeers only strengthens them.
