Israel has endorsed President Donald Trump's decision to pause strikes on Iran for two weeks, describing the move as a step toward de-escalation and renewed negotiations. However, Israel clarified that the pause does not extend to Lebanon. The decision follows an announcement from Washington suspending attacks on Iran to create space for diplomatic efforts.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said Israel supports the pause on the condition that Tehran immediately reopens the strait and halts attacks against the United States, Israel, and other countries in the region. Israel also backed efforts to ensure Iran no longer poses a nuclear, missile, or terror threat, adding that Washington remains committed to shared security goals in upcoming talks.

Iran confirmed that negotiations with the United States are set to begin on April 10 in Islamabad. While Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the agreement included a halt to Israel's campaign in Lebanon, Israeli officials stated that the ceasefire does not cover that front.

The conflict in Lebanon has intensified in recent weeks, with at least 1,500 people killed and 1.2 million displaced. The violence escalated after Hezbollah launched rockets at Israel in solidarity with Tehran, prompting a renewed Israeli ground and air offensive.
