Israel marked Holocaust Remembrance Day with a pre-recorded state ceremony at Yad Vashem due to a heightened security situation.
The broadcast featured addresses by President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The memorial torch was lit by Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, a Holocaust survivor and chairman of the Yad Vashem Council.
The central theme of this year’s commemoration is 'The Jewish Family during the Holocaust.' Six survivors — Saadia Bahat, Michael Sidko, Miriam 'Daisy' Bar Lev, Moshe Harari, Ilana Fallach and Avigdor Neumann — lit memorial torches, while Haviva Burst delivered survivors’ remarks and Menachem Neeman recited the memorial prayer for the victims.
