IDF confirms it carried out first strikes against Hezbollah since ceasefire, says operatives violated truce

The Israeli military confirmed it carried out several strikes in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah operatives who it said violated the ceasefire that came into effect at midnight between Thursday and Friday. The actions mark the first strikes since the truce began.

According to the military, troops operating south of the Yellow Line identified militants approaching from the north in a manner deemed an immediate threat. Air and ground forces struck the operatives in multiple locations to remove the danger.

Artillery fire was also used to support ground troops, and what the military described as terror infrastructure was destroyed in response to threats. The military said it is acting under directives from the political leadership and retains the authority to take necessary self-defense measures.

The statement emphasized that actions taken to remove threats are not restricted by the ceasefire and that operations will continue to clear areas under Israeli control of Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure to ensure the security of civilians and deployed forces.
