Anbumani Ramadoss has strongly criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, accusing him of committing a historic betrayal by allegedly orchestrating the defeat of a Constitution Amendment Bill that sought to provide thirty three percent reservation for women. He claimed that the opposition to the bill reflects an anti women and anti social justice mindset and expressed shock over reports that party workers celebrated its failure.
Drawing sharp comparisons with authoritarian leaders from history, Anbumani alleged that the ruling party and the Indian National Congress have repeatedly obstructed efforts to secure political representation for women. He also criticized members of parliament from the ruling alliance, including women representatives, for voting against the amendment.
Anbumani argued that blocking the bill denies women greater participation in governance and predicted that women voters in Tamil Nadu would not forgive what he described as a betrayal. He asserted that the ruling party would face electoral consequences in the upcoming assembly elections as a result of its stance on the legislation.
