Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged citizens to conserve electricity, saying that although there are currently no shortages, reducing consumption is necessary. Speaking on state television, he asked households to limit usage, suggesting that instead of turning on ten lights, families should use only two. He emphasized that people are not being asked to make sacrifices, but to manage energy use responsibly.

Pezeshkian accused the United States and Israel of targeting infrastructure and imposing blockades to create public dissatisfaction. Despite ongoing tensions and reported attacks, there have been no recent power cuts in Tehran.

Iran has long struggled with power outages during peak summer and winter demand due to aging infrastructure, underinvestment, and the effects of international sanctions. Although the country generates most of its electricity from abundant natural gas reserves and supplements it with heavy fuel oil, its grid has struggled to keep pace with demand, prompting repeated public campaigns to reduce energy consumption.
