United States immigration agents have re-detained the family of an Egyptian man accused of carrying out a firebomb attack on a Jewish protest in Colorado, according to their lawyer. The detention occurred just days after the family was released from nearly ten months in custody at a Texas immigrant detention center.

The family had been freed following a federal judge’s order dismissing the government’s claims that they posed a danger or flight risk. However, authorities moved to detain them again, saying deportation was imminent. A federal judge later issued a stay of removal, temporarily preventing their deportation while legal challenges continue.

Mohammed Sabry Soliman faces federal charges over a June 2025 attack on demonstrators supporting Israeli hostages held by Hamas. Prosecutors allege he used Molotov cocktails and an improvised flamethrower, wounding fifteen people, one of whom later died. Soliman’s former wife and their children have denied any prior knowledge of the attack, maintaining that he acted alone.
