Rabbi Dov Lando, the spiritual leader of Degel HaTorah, strongly criticized the High Court of Justice after it ordered the government to impose sanctions on ultra-Orthodox men who evade military service. Speaking at the Ponovezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, Lando condemned the court's actions as 'wickedness' and warned of divine judgment.
Lando declared that yeshiva students 'will not go to the army under any circumstances,' whether compelled by law or voluntarily. He insisted that Torah study would continue uninterrupted despite the court's measures and predicted that the decrees would ultimately fade away.
He further asserted that the responsibility lies with state authorities to resolve the issue without targeting religious students, emphasizing that the ultra-Orthodox community would ignore the new restrictions and remain steadfast in its commitment to religious study.
