Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with the families of two young men who were killed in separate attacks by groups of minors in Petah Tikva and Beersheba, incidents that have intensified national concern over rising youth violence.
Netanyahu contacted the family of 21-year-old Yemanu Binyamin Zelka, who was beaten and stabbed to death by teenagers on Independence Day in Petah Tikva, and the family of 19-year-old Destao Tzakul, who was fatally stabbed in Beersheba. In both cases, police detained suspects who were minors.
The prime minister expressed shock over the killings and offered condolences on behalf of himself, his wife Sara Netanyahu, and the public. He called for those responsible to face the full force of the law and instructed the national security and education ministers to strengthen enforcement efforts and hold discussions in schools to help prevent further violence.
