Lebanese authorities have detained former Palestinian ambassador to Lebanon Ashraf Dabbour on corruption charges after he arrived at Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut. Judicial and security officials said he was arrested late Tuesday and is being questioned by a judge at the prosecutor's office.
Dabbour was removed from his post last year by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas following accusations of corruption by the Palestinian Authority. Lebanese officials said the arrest was carried out based on a Red Notice issued by the International Criminal Police Organization, and that the case is linked to the alleged sale of property in Lebanon owned by the Palestinian Liberation Organization before Israel's 1982 invasion of the country.
