State govt plans int'l patient services in NIMS & TIMS hospitals | Hyderabad News

The Telangana government is planning to introduce specialised international patient services at the upcoming Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences hospitals in Sanathnagar, Alwal and LB Nagar, as well as at the expanding Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences. Each facility will include 50 premium suites designed to meet global standards of comfort, privacy and specialised care.

The initiative aims to attract patients from Africa, the Middle East and parts of Europe, where there is growing demand for affordable and high-quality treatment. By upgrading public hospitals to match private corporate facilities, the state hopes to position Hyderabad as a leading global healthcare destination and boost medical tourism.

Officials said the government will hold discussions and sign memorandums of understanding with various countries to facilitate patient inflow. An international medical tourism event scheduled for June is expected to draw delegates from Africa, Asia and the Middle East to strengthen global outreach.

Revenue generated from international patients is expected to be reinvested into improving infrastructure, equipment and services for local residents. Plans also include developing an international convention centre at the Sanathnagar facility, featuring a large auditorium, a research centre and accommodation for visiting doctors and researchers.
