Israel deployed a version of its Iron Beam laser-based air defense system to the United Arab Emirates during recent fighting with Iran, according to a report by the Financial Times. The system was sent to help defend the Gulf country against missile and drone attacks.
In addition to Iron Beam, Israel reportedly provided a surveillance system called Spectro, capable of detecting Iranian drones from up to 20 kilometers away. A regional official cited in the report said the deployment demonstrated 'the value of being Israel's friend.'
The report also states that Israel sent the Iron Dome air defense system to the United Arab Emirates, along with troops to operate it. A person familiar with the matter said the deployment involved a significant number of Israeli soldiers on the ground.
