Amul rides West Asia crisis to record dairy exports | Vadodara News

India's leading dairy exporter Amul recorded unprecedented shipments to the Middle East during the West Asia crisis, capitalizing on a surge in demand despite severe logistical disruptions. Skimmed milk powder exports rose sharply as Gulf importers rushed to secure supplies, even though shipping operations were nearly halted for over two weeks at the height of the tensions.

The Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation, which markets the Amul brand, shipped about 2,700 metric tonnes of skimmed milk powder to Dubai during the final month of the crisis, marking a 120 percent increase over the same period last year. Once transport bottlenecks eased, the cooperative dispatched hundreds of containers to key regional hubs including Khorfakkan, Bahrain, Sohar, Qatar and Iraq, with volumes peaking in late April.

Amul's strong performance was supported by its established warehouse and distribution network across the Gulf region, where it holds a significant share in products such as ghee, butter, paneer and cheese. The export growth comes alongside robust domestic expansion, with the cooperative surpassing one lakh crore rupees in brand turnover in the financial year 2025 to 2026, further strengthening its position among the world's top dairy players.
