A Hezbollah lawmaker said the group can 'thwart' the objectives of ongoing direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, declaring that the talks and their outcomes do not concern the organization. Hassan Fadlallah made the remarks during an event honoring fallen fighters, as tensions continue despite a recent pause in large-scale fighting.
Lebanon and Israel recently held rare meetings in Washington under pressure from the United States, leading to a temporary ceasefire after weeks of cross-border violence. Hezbollah has strongly rejected the negotiations, with its leadership condemning them and supporters criticizing Lebanese political leaders involved in the process.
Although a ceasefire was announced on April 17, Israeli strikes have continued in southern Lebanon, alongside evacuation warnings for several villages. Lebanese officials have called for a full implementation of the ceasefire before talks proceed, while Hezbollah insists that any future agreement must guarantee that Lebanon will not face further attacks.
