Two people have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following damage to a memorial wall in Golders Green, north London, on 27 April. A 46-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were detained in Romford on Monday morning as part of a counter-terrorism policing investigation and remain in custody at a London police station.
The memorial wall had been used to display photographs of protesters killed by the Iranian government during a crackdown on demonstrations in January. It also includes a section commemorating those killed in the 2023 attack by Hamas on the Nova music festival in Israel, along with a message of solidarity with the Jewish community placed nearby.
Police said they are committed to protecting vulnerable communities in the capital as investigations continue. Further updates are expected as inquiries progress.
