Rocket sirens sounded across northern Israel after Hezbollah launched a barrage toward the western Galilee on Friday afternoon. Alerts were activated along coastal and inland communities from Nahariya to Acre and the northern suburbs of Haifa Bay. No immediate casualties or significant damage were reported.
The attack followed an Israeli airstrike in Beirut that killed Ahmed Ali Balout, a commander in Hezbollah's Radwan Force, along with his deputy and other operatives. Israeli officials said Balout had directed attacks against Israeli troops in southern Lebanon and worked to advance a plan aimed at infiltrating northern Israel. The government stated that those responsible for attacks on its citizens would not have immunity.
The Israeli military had warned earlier in the day that rocket fire was possible in response to the Beirut strike, urging residents to remain vigilant. The exchange comes amid renewed fighting that resumed in early March after a period of relative calm under a ceasefire. Since then, Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon and Hezbollah rocket and drone attacks on northern Israel have continued despite efforts to restore the truce.
