Iran's football federation has confirmed that the men's national team will compete in the 2026 World Cup, but said the host nations must accept a set of conditions amid ongoing tensions linked to the Middle East conflict. The tournament will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada between June 11 and July 19.

The federation outlined ten conditions, including guarantees that visas will be issued without issue and that the team's flag, anthem and staff will be treated with respect. It also called for strong security measures at airports, hotels and stadiums, and insisted that players and staff with past service in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps be allowed to enter the host countries.

Tensions rose after Canada denied entry to the federation's president due to his alleged links to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. While the United States has said Iranian players would be welcome, it warned that individuals with ties to the military body could still face restrictions.

Despite the uncertainty, world football's governing body has confirmed that Iran will play its scheduled matches in the United States. Iran is set to face New Zealand, Belgium and Egypt in the group stage, opening its campaign in Los Angeles on June 15.
