Three people were killed in an Israeli strike on a residential building in Gaza City, according to medics and eyewitnesses. Israel has continued carrying out strikes across Gaza despite a ceasefire that began on 10 October, with the territory's health ministry reporting more than 800 deaths since the truce took effect.
Hamas has accused Israel of violating the ceasefire and targeting civilians, while Israel says it is acting against Hamas members and claims the group has failed to meet disarmament obligations. Efforts to advance a peace plan led by the United States have stalled, particularly over disagreements بشأن disarmament and governance of Gaza.
The conflict follows the 7 October attack led by Hamas that killed about 1,200 people and resulted in 251 hostages. Israel's military campaign in response has devastated much of Gaza and displaced large numbers of residents, with the Hamas-run health ministry reporting more than 72,744 deaths. The latest strike also comes amid increased Israeli military action in Lebanon targeting Hezbollah sites.
