Eight people were killed in three Israeli airstrikes targeting vehicles on a coastal highway about 20 kilometers south of Beirut, according to Lebanon's health ministry. The strikes occurred as fighting between Hezbollah and Israel continued to escalate.
Security sources said the attacks hit separate vehicles along the busy roadway. It remains unclear whether those killed were members of Hezbollah or civilians.
The strikes took place on the eve of a third round of talks mediated by the United States between Lebanon and Israel. There has been no immediate comment from the Israel Defense Forces regarding the attacks.
