Iraq's new Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has been sworn in with a partial cabinet after lawmakers failed to reach agreement on several key government positions. Parliament approved 14 ministers, but major portfolios, including interior and defense, remain unfilled.
Basim Mohammed was appointed as oil minister, while Fuad Hussein will continue serving as foreign minister. However, nine ministries are still pending, with three nominees failing to secure parliamentary confidence during the session.
The parliamentary meeting was marked by heated exchanges, particularly over the proposed interior minister. Lawmakers said disagreements prevented a full cabinet from being finalized, leaving the new government incomplete as negotiations continue.
