Police are searching for a man who allegedly made antisemitic threats in east London, after a video of the incident circulated online. Officers were called to Whitechapel Road in Tower Hamlets on Friday and are carrying out urgent inquiries to identify the suspect.
In the footage, the man is seen addressing the camera while making threats and slurs targeting the Jewish community, as bystanders stand nearby. Police said they take hate crime extremely seriously and understand the concern such incidents cause.
Jewish community volunteer group Shomrim said it is aware of the video and described it as horrific. The group confirmed it is working closely with police in Hackney and Tower Hamlets and will increase patrols until the suspect is located.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions following recent arson attacks on Jewish sites in London and a double stabbing in Golders Green. A dedicated team of 100 officers was recently deployed to help protect Jewish communities across the city.
