Reports have claimed that the United States Central Intelligence Agency used an experimental device known as 'Ghost Murmur' to help locate a wounded pilot whose fighter jet was shot down over Iran. The navigator survived for two days in a mountain ravine while Iranian soldiers and civilians searched the area.
According to earlier reporting, the pilot activated a special locator beacon manufactured by Boeing, but search and rescue teams were initially unable to determine his precise location. The experimental technology was reportedly used to narrow down his position at a later stage.
However, the scientific journal Scientific American cited leading physicists who said the account, while compelling, is almost certainly incorrect. The experts expressed strong skepticism about the feasibility of the technology described in the original report.
