A 15-year-old boy has been arrested as the central suspect in the fatal stabbing of 21-year-old pizzeria worker Yemanu Binyamin Zelka in Petah Tikva on Independence Day. Zelka was attacked after asking a group of teenagers to stop using party spray inside the restaurant where he worked.
According to reports, about 10 youths were involved in the assault, though investigators believe one suspect was primarily responsible for the stabbing. Earlier, six teenagers had been detained in connection with the incident.
Zelka had been working a late shift when he approached the group, who were behaving disruptively. After he politely asked them to stop, the teens reportedly waited outside for him to finish work and attacked him as he left the building. Some of the suspects were said to be known to police, and reports indicate they attempted to evade capture by turning off their cellphones and avoiding their homes after the killing.
