Israel's State Attorney's Office has filed an indictment against 34-year-old Rahat resident Nasser Mustafa for allegedly smuggling goods into the Gaza Strip and aiding the enemy during wartime. Prosecutors say Mustafa coordinated the operation with a reserve officer in the Israeli army and later involved another officer in the scheme.
According to the indictment, Mustafa posed as a repairman for aid trucks and used the officers' authority to conceal cartons of cigarettes and other goods on vehicles entering Gaza. The smuggled items were later collected by local officials inside the territory. Authorities allege the operation was carried out multiple times, with Mustafa receiving hundreds of thousands of shekels and sharing some profits with the participating officers.
Prosecutors contend that Mustafa knew the goods could benefit Hamas, either directly or through taxation imposed on smuggled merchandise. He is charged with aiding the enemy during wartime, dealing in property for terrorist purposes, bribery, fraud under aggravated circumstances, and making false statements to security officials.
