Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the launch of Operation 'Silver Plow' during a visit to southern Lebanon alongside senior military commanders and local community representatives. The operation aims to dismantle terror infrastructure and destroy homes used by Hezbollah as launch and firing positions against Israel along the northern border.

Katz stated that Israel will no longer allow northern communities to live under the threat of anti-tank fire and cross-border raids. He said the objective is to disarm Hezbollah and evacuate Lebanese residents south of the Litani River, adding that homes in targeted areas are being removed to prevent the return of hostile activity.

The minister also referenced the final moments of former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, saying his death reflected a miscalculation about Israel's resolve. Local leader Eitan Davidi voiced strong support for the operation and the Israel Defense Forces, saying residents would remain in their homes and give the military the time needed to complete its mission.
