The crisis that disrupted global energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz appears to be nearing an end as Washington and Tehran signal a breakthrough. President Donald Trump said a deal is imminent, suggesting Iran will give up its enriched uranium in exchange for unspecified incentives, including financial relief.
Trump announced that the waterway is fully open and claimed that Iran has agreed never to close it again, describing the development as a major victory for global stability. His remarks followed a statement from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirming that commercial vessels may resume passage through the strait along a coordinated route.
Araghchi linked the reopening to an ongoing ceasefire, though it was unclear whether he referred specifically to Lebanon or to broader tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Both sides appear to be moving toward a formal agreement, with indications that sea mines are being cleared to ensure safe navigation through one of the world’s most critical shipping lanes.
