Video: Displaced Family Returns Home Following Truce Between Israel and Lebanon

A 25-year-old woman, Ghia Hajo, returned to her home in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre after a 10-day cease-fire was announced between Israel and Lebanon. The city had been heavily bombarded, forcing many families to flee.

Hajo described feeling both relief and fear upon hearing the news. While she was happy to return, she remained uncertain whether the truce would hold. Crossing the Qasmiyeh river on a repaired road reopened by the Lebanese Army, she said that despite the risks, returning felt necessary because it is their land.

Arriving back, Hajo expressed gratitude that her house was still standing. Though shaken by the experience, she voiced hope and determination, looking forward to cleaning her room and sleeping in her own bed for the first time since being displaced.
