Shin Bet chief Zini said to have changed background on all agency PCs to Temple Mount photo on first day at the job

Days after taking office, David Zini reportedly ordered that the background image on all computers at Israel's internal security agency be changed from the agency logo to a photo of the Temple Mount. According to Channel 12, sources said the move reflected Zini's intention to steer the organization in a more religious and messianic direction, consistent with his background at the Har Hamor yeshiva. The backgrounds were later restored to the agency logo after internal objections.

Employees were subsequently told that Zini had only requested the image change for his personal computer and that a technician mistakenly applied it agency wide. The incident is one of several controversies that have surrounded Zini during his first six months in the role.

Channel 12 also reported that Zini downgraded the agency's focus on Jewish extremist violence, reclassifying such incidents as skirmishes. In addition, a former senior official said Zini's son had been involved in racially motivated attacks against Druze communities in the Golan Heights, and that an agency officer warned Zini that his son was under scrutiny. The agency declined to comment on the reports.
