A Memorial Day ceremony in Jerusalem honored 47 Lone Soldiers who have fallen since October 7, recognizing those who served without immediate family support. The event commemorated their sacrifice as part of broader remembrance efforts for soldiers killed in the ongoing war.
Each year, more than 7,000 Lone Soldiers enlist, including thousands of new immigrants and native-born Israelis without close family networks. Since the start of the war, more than 1,100 soldiers have been killed, among them 47 Lone Soldiers.
Held at the Jerusalem Theater, the ceremony brought together bereaved families, public officials, fellow soldiers and supporters, and was broadcast in Israel and abroad. Organized by several Lone Soldier support groups in partnership with the Jerusalem Municipality, the event featured reflections from family members and was conducted in Hebrew and English to honor the fallen and highlight their unique contributions.
