King Abdullah of Jordan and President Ahmad Al-Sharaa of Syria held telephone talks to address the escalating regional crisis following attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran. Both leaders stressed the urgent need for dialogue to prevent further deterioration of security across the region.
Iran responded to the strikes with waves of missiles and drones targeting Jordan and other countries. King Abdullah strongly condemned the attacks on Jordanian territory and across the region, reaffirming that safeguarding Jordan’s citizens, security, and sovereignty remains a top priority. Jordan also denounced Iranian strikes against Turkiye and Azerbaijan.
The two leaders further emphasized the importance of reducing tensions in the occupied West Bank and ensuring worshippers can access Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan. The holy site remained closed for a sixth consecutive day under emergency measures imposed by Israeli authorities.
