Protect Prometheus, an Artificial Intelligence lab co-led by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has raised $10 billion in new funding, valuing the company at about $38 billion. The round included backing from major financial firms such as JPMorgan Chase and BlackRock, along with private equity groups and sovereign wealth funds tied to industrial sectors.
The company focuses on developing Artificial Intelligence tools that help design and manufacture physical products, targeting industries such as manufacturing and engineering rather than traditional software. Its systems aim to simulate real-world physical behavior, such as predicting how air flows around an airplane wing or where a metal component might crack under pressure.
Bezos, who stepped down as Amazon’s Chief Executive Officer in 2021, serves as co-Chief Executive Officer alongside former Google executive Vik Bajaj and is said to be closely involved in strategy and operations. The company has recruited talent from leading Artificial Intelligence firms and added Blue Origin leader David Limp to its board, with plans to use its technology to improve efficiency and profitability across businesses tied to its investors.
