United States President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner will travel to Pakistan on Saturday for talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
Leavitt said the administration hopes the meeting will be productive and help advance negotiations toward a potential agreement with Iran. She described the upcoming discussion as an opportunity to move closer to a deal.
Vice President JD Vance will not join the trip but will remain in the United States along with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the president's national security team. Leavitt said they will stay on standby and could travel to Pakistan if necessary.
