Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the destruction of what he described as a major Hezbollah terror tunnel in southern Lebanon, saying Israeli forces are continuing operations against the group’s infrastructure. He stated that dozens of militants have been killed and that military activity is ongoing both south and north of the Litani River, as well as in the Beqaa Valley.

Netanyahu also revealed that he has ordered the acceleration of a special project aimed at countering the growing threat of explosive drones targeting Israeli troops. He acknowledged that the effort will take time but said Israel is determined to eliminate this capability.

Hezbollah has increasingly relied on first person view drones, which allow operators to control aircraft in real time using onboard cameras and specialized goggles. These drones are highly maneuverable, capable of navigating urban terrain and entering buildings through narrow openings, making detection and interception more difficult.

A recent shift to fiber optic guidance has reduced the effectiveness of electronic jamming against these drones, enhancing their precision. Their relatively low cost and use of widely available civilian components enable large scale deployment, making them a persistent and evolving threat on the battlefield.
