The United States State Department plans to issue a limited edition passport to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary in July. The redesigned document will feature a portrait and signature of President Donald Trump printed over text from the Declaration of Independence on the interior visa pages, representing a departure from traditional passport artwork.
The commemorative passport will be available at no additional cost through the Washington Passport Agency, while applicants using online services or other locations will continue to receive the current standard design. The department said the special edition will include customized artwork and enhanced imagery while maintaining existing security protections.
Reports initially suggested that about 25,000 copies would be produced, though a department official rejected that figure without confirming the exact number. The announcement follows other recent efforts during Trump’s second term to incorporate his name and image into public initiatives and institutions.
