In interview blitz, Bennett vows to fire politicized officials if elected PM

Former prime minister Naftali Bennett said that if he returns to office he will dismiss officials he believes are serving political interests rather than the public good. In a series of televised interviews following his political union with opposition leader Yair Lapid, Bennett pledged to scrutinize senior figures based on their performance and warned that politicization within government bodies, including the police, would not be tolerated.

Without naming specific individuals, Bennett pointed to what he described as growing political interference in law enforcement and other institutions. He said that any official found exploiting their role for political purposes would be removed. His remarks come amid criticism of recent senior appointments and concerns about the independence of key state agencies.

Bennett also called on other opposition figures to unite under his leadership, urging them to follow the example of the current governing coalition’s internal discipline. He sharply criticized the government’s handling of military conscription exemptions for ultra-Orthodox men, arguing that avoiding broader enlistment is 'costing in blood' and endangering soldiers.

On coalition prospects, Bennett ruled out relying on Arab-majority parties, though he said he would continue to serve all citizens. Recent polling suggests that his alliance with Lapid could emerge as the largest single party if elections were held now, though the broader political blocs remain closely divided.
