Hezbollah is continuing to expand its arsenal of explosive and surveillance drones despite significant pressure on its supply routes. Media outlets affiliated with the group report that a large stockpile has been built up in recent months, even after the disruption of land smuggling routes from Syria and the suspension of air shipments from Iran.
The growing drone capability has raised alarms, particularly as Lebanese authorities have reportedly intercepted only a single shipment since last June. The impact has already been felt on the battlefield, with three Israel Defense Forces soldiers killed in southern Lebanon following explosive drone attacks since fighting resumed.
New details have also emerged about a targeted strike near Beirut that killed Mohammad Shihab, who was publicly known as a photographer and filmmaker specializing in drone work. Behind this civilian profile, he allegedly played a central role in acquiring and converting civilian drones for military use, including traveling to China to gain expertise and secure equipment for Hezbollah operations.
