London's Metropolitan Police have charged a 45-year-old man with two counts of attempted murder following a stabbing attack in the Golders Green area of north London. The suspect, identified as Essa Suleiman, also faces one count of possession of a bladed article in a public place.
The charges come after a Counter Terrorism Policing investigation into the incident, during which two men were stabbed in what authorities described as an antisemitic attack. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mark Rowley attended a meeting of criminal justice agencies in response to the incident.
In the wake of the attack, Britain raised its national terrorism threat level from substantial to severe. The investigation is ongoing.
