Israel's Home Front Command has announced new restrictions on gatherings in northern Israel, effective from May 1 at 1:00 p.m. through May 4 at 8:00 p.m. Communities along the Israel-Lebanon border, as well as Meron, Bar Yohai, Or Haganuz, and Safsufa, will shift from full activity to partial activity under the updated guidelines.
Educational institutions and workplaces may operate only in locations where a standard protected space can be reached within the required time. Outdoor gatherings will be limited to 200 people, while indoor events may host up to 600 attendees. All other defensive measures remain unchanged as authorities continue ongoing assessments.
The restrictions affect the upcoming Lag Ba'omer celebrations, particularly the central event in Meron, which had been expected to draw about 10,000 participants in staggered groups. Despite earlier approval of the plan, all planned events were canceled early Friday due to a dispute over transportation arrangements, according to the official responsible for organizing the celebration.
