Open letters posted repeatedly at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle have sparked outrage after calling for an end to cooperation with the Jewish Community of Halle over a counter-antisemitism project. The anonymous flyers accused the Jewish organization of supporting genocide and demanded that the university sever ties with Israeli institutions and disinvite the community group from campus activities.

The Jewish Community of Halle and the State Association of Jewish Communities of Saxony-Anhalt condemned the letters as antisemitic propaganda, rejecting claims that they promote racism or violence. They argued that the accusations reverse victim and perpetrator narratives and divide Jews into 'acceptable' and 'unacceptable' categories based on their views about Israel. The groups warned that such rhetoric echoes historical antisemitic agitation that led to violence.

University officials also denounced the flyers as clearly antisemitic and reaffirmed their partnership with the Jewish community, stating it must not be used as a proxy for political conflicts. The Israeli embassy in Berlin criticized the calls as thinly veiled attempts to exclude Jews from academic life. In response, the university said it would strengthen dialogue initiatives and continue joint events with the Jewish community, emphasizing that exchange and cooperation must be defended.
