Denmark records third straight year of historically high antisemitism

Antisemitic incidents in Denmark remained at historically high levels for the third consecutive year in 2025, according to a new report by the Jewish Community in Denmark. A total of 199 incidents were recorded, the second-highest figure since tracking began in 2012 and only slightly below the 207 cases documented in 2024. Before the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas on Israel, Denmark averaged just nine incidents per year.

Seventy percent of incidents targeted individuals or institutions that were visibly Jewish, and 69 percent were linked to Israel, the war in Gaza, or other developments in the Middle East. More than half of the cases occurred online. The report also documented 24 incidents involving Jewish children and youth, including three violent attacks.

A recent study found that 83 percent of Jewish Danes adjust their behavior in public because of their identity, while 62 percent avoid displaying Jewish symbols. Denmark’s government has introduced a multi-year plan to combat antisemitism, including increased security funding, stronger action against online hate, and new educational initiatives aimed at young people.
