A spacious 400 square meter home in a rural community in the Shfela was designed for an elderly couple seeking a warm and welcoming space for large family gatherings. Inspired by a French brasserie and contemporary farmhouse style, the house combines dramatic architectural volume with intimate design elements.
One of the main challenges was the 7.5 meter high ceilings in the public areas. To prevent the space from feeling cold or cavernous, the designers used layered lighting instead of a single central fixture. Ceiling spotlights provide general illumination, while decorative pendant lights create focal points and visually lower the space, forming cozy corners within the open plan.
In the kitchen, graphite and brass mesh fixtures highlight a five meter island, while darkened brass lamps define the dining area. All lighting is dimmable, allowing flexibility between bright entertaining settings and softer evening atmospheres. Carefully selected fixtures in secondary spaces further enhance the overall warmth, making lighting an integral part of the home's character rather than just a functional feature.
